How does the SmartBee™ Control System compare to other brands of controllers on the market?

Today’s grow rooms are often made up of various controllers that don’t work together as a team, which provides for an inflexible and incomplete solution for the Indoor Gardener. The SmartBee™ Control System is made up of several custom wireless sensors and remotely controlled outlets which are designed to work together. No bus cables or Ethernet lines, just power the devices and the control begins. The hardware cases allow for easy mounting, hanging and installation. With the SmartBee™ Control System your lighting, irrigation and atmospheric controls are all working together allowing for total control with an integrated solution.

What is a Wireless Mesh Network?

A wireless mesh network is a communications network made up of radio nodes organized in a mesh topology. Wireless mesh networks consist of a client, nodes, routers and gateways. The clients are often laptops, cell phones and other wireless devices (i.e., iPad) while the nodes and routers forward traffic to and from the gateways which may or may not be connected to the Internet. A mesh network is reliable and offers redundancy. When one node can no longer operate, the rest of the nodes can still communicate with each other, directly or through one or more intermediate nodes.

SmartBee™ wireless mesh networks are implemented using IEEE 802.15.4 ZIGBEE wireless technology. Our wireless mesh network is a special type of wireless ad-hoc network. SmartBee™ systems are deployed to provide dynamic and cost effective connectivity within greenhouse and grow room environments. The more sensors you have, the stronger your mesh network will be.

My grow room seems too hot. Is there a simple way to cool my space?

For cooling, we suggest using our SmartBee™ Environmental Base System. It couples the Smart strip 4 together with our LTH Sensor to provide maximum control of your environment. Plug in a exhaust fan to the smart strip and it can cool your room. If temperatures still get too high, our software will turn some lights off and will turn them back on when the temperature drops below your chosen set point. In most indoor environments, lighting is the major source of heat. Our system will let you know when it gets too hot by sending you crucial data alerts via email and or text messages. We believe this software feature will save you money and help you avoid potential problems.

Can I use SmartBee™ with other manufacturers equipment?

Yes. SmartBee™ gear is compatible with most other manufacturer’s equipment currently on the market today.  It is designed to interface with any equipment that’s 120 & 220 Volts and uses a standard NEMA 5 plug configuration.

Are the SmartBee™ Smarter Controls analog or digital?

We use digital and analog sensors on our sensor and control boards, but simplify the use of them by providing you with technology forward, state-of-the-art software to operate the devices. This eliminates the need for you to be in your grow room. All of our devices are wireless and provide you with no more knobs and switches to interface with. Most importantly, no more cables and no more complicated installation. Just touch and adjust.

Do I need an Internet connection?

No. You can access and control SmartBee™ products locally via the Hive’s built-in wireless hot spot.

I want to control CO2, temperature and humidity, which controller should I use?

We suggest using the SmartBee™ Environmental Control Premier Base System that includes our wireless self-charging CO2/LTH sensor.  LTH Sensors monitor Light, Temperature and Humidity. Combined with our wireless CO2 Sensor they allow you to control your complete environment. The sensors send important sensor data to the Hive™ Gateway which uses logic paired with your settings to make sure you are not wasting CO2, power or time.
