How to Create iOS/Android Shortcut Icons for Your SmartBee Controllers WebApp

Navigating to your Hive Gateway remotely from your device is done by creating a shortcut to the SmartBee Controllers WebApp on your iOS/Android. The shortcut is saved on your iOS/Android screen as an icon that looks like a standard app icon. You can then click on that icon and it takes you directly to your Hive in your web browser, like a shortcut or a bookmark.

As an example, when using an iOS device, and visiting myhive.ddns.net or other address using the Safari browser, click on the “share” icon:

Then click “Add to Home Screen” which will add a shortcut icon to your device that, when clicked, will take you directly to this page:

click “Add to Home Screen” which will add a shortcut icon to your device

You can see a webpage shortcut icon labeled “SmartBee Controllers”. The icon will appear on your home screen like any other app shortcut or widget, so you can drag it around and put it wherever you like. Once on the desktop you can rename the icon to a name that works for you.

Be sure to download our Android Launcher from our download section. This app locates your Hive Gateway on the current network (both the Hive and your Android device must be on the same network) and launches a browser for login. Launch your browser for Android and open the website or web page you want to pin to your home screen. Tap the menu button and tap Add to homescreen. You’ll be able to enter a name for the shortcut and then browser will add it to your home screen.

Tap the menu button and tap Add to homescreen
